Well, after a few rounds of my best and worst of the weekend feature, I will be switching up my style. I have received some criticism from one of my readers about the formatting of this write-up. This particular reader will remain nameless, but for anyone that is curious he or she is a tall, red head that resides in Chicago. You may or may not know who I am talking about so I will give you one more clue. He or she is also a wannabe baller and a frequent blog commentator. And, we all know that despite my pleading over the last few months there are very few people who actually comment. So to please my readers and attempt to keep everyone happy…the new format will include only 1 best and 1 worst of the weekend. It will be followed by an honorable mention of activities, events, and/or occurrences that were close but did not quite make the cut. I hope this is more acceptable to the reader described above and to the group as a whole. Enough already, here is my best and worst of the weekend:
Best of the Weekend: 1st Lake house cookout of the season. The family, Kris, Michelle, Gram, and Aunt Jeanie all gathered at the lake house for the first of many spring/summer cookouts. Ooops, I almost forgot Scout. My dad had the music going and deck furniture in place on this perfect spring evening. My mom was preparing a spread of fabulous food including fresh fruit, summer salad with perfectly ripened avocados, and deliciously juicy hamburgers. Marko manned the grill and did an excellent job of cooking mine to well done perfection. My gram and I took down Kris and Aunt Jeanie in a tightly contested game of euchre, while Michelle and Laura researched potential Brewer games and tennis rackets. Overall, it was a great evening and I am looking forward to many more days/nights at 617!
Honorable Mention:
1. Laredo’s guacamole. Simply amazing. The guacamole lady did not disappoint as she prepared a mortar full of avocado heaven right in front of our table.
2. First baseball game of the season. Despite the Brewers loss to the Cardinals this made the list, as it was fun to return to the ballpark and to hang out with Kris, Carrie, Austin, Bri, and Jess. Great burgers provide by Austin. Yum!
3. The Masters. Lefty and Tiger did not disappoint.
4. The weather.
Worst of the Weekend: Hot Tub Time Machine. I am almost embarrassed to admit that I spent $7 and my Friday evening at this movie. But there is no shame here on the Bean Spiller’s page. I probably do not have to elaborate, but as you can imagine this movie was pretty terrible. While there were a few funny the lines, the acting and story were disappointing.
Honorable Mention:
1. No college basketball on tv. This is a very difficult time for me as you can all imagine. I am already counting down the days until early November.
2. Complete abandonment of my diet. Whoops!
Another weekend has come and gone. Once again, it was filled with way more bests than worsts. Thanks to all the people that made this weekend great. Looking forward to hearing about everyone else’s best and worsts of the weekend.
Fear the Deer,
The Bean Spiller

Just me again, Chris from Syracuse, or Meesh from Janesville, seems to be one in the same. Following by the rules...best of the weekend: sunday funday in madison, which included, tennis with lo, cookout, followed by looking for tennis rackets for Jeannie, Laura, and Mr. Cullen. For anyone that knows anything about me I am probably the worst person when it comes to internet searching...well if you are looking for tennis rackets I would not recommend www.dicks.com, I would try www.dicksports.com, more rackets there!
ReplyDeleteWorst of the weekend, my tennis serve and poor Laura having to duck from the ball more than anything. I promise improvement by tomorrow.
ahhh summer salad. u seem to have forgot someone who wasnt at the cookout in madison
ReplyDeleteHey Jean A Kyle, it's me, the tall he/she from Chicago. Now that I know you are so willing to adapt your blogging style for your readers I will start in with my list of requests; more about construction! What are you building? If you were a building what would you be made out of and what purpose would you serve? I'd be made out of wood and be a residential home. Also, can you please incorporate some kind of imagery with your blogs? A picture of scout or your dad manning the grill would have been super. Call me!
ReplyDeleteP.S. did you ever figure out what 897 is in the header file?
Gretchen the He/She from Chicago sent this to me and I think it should be shared with everyone...she is the tall red head so she doesn't stand out at all in this...

I would like to clarify...I was not calling the person a he/she. I said he or she so that I did not give away this person's identity. I wanted there to be an element of suprise. Apparently no one wanted to play a long.
ReplyDeleteStretch, my next blog will be about construction. Do I really have to call you?
