I LOVE BASIL

My grandma bought and planted a basil plant for me this spring. Despite the excessive amounts of rain and my lack of a green thumb, I managed to produce basil leaves over the last month or so. After consulting with my mother, who is perhaps the best gardner ever, well her and my gram, about the details of picking basil i.e. how, when, where, I dove in and picked the plant Monday evening. I got about a cup and half of leaves and immediately started planning meals that involved basil or pesto. YUM! Pizza, Pasta, Caprese salad. Following a trip to the Willy Street Co-op and a lunch break spent making pesto, I was ready to enjoy the green herb that I had "harvested." I am well on my way to becoming a farmer. Now, if only my cherry tomato would start producing!

Step 1: Basil Plant

Step 2: Pesto

Step 3: Pesto Pasta (I added kalamata olives, feta, parmesan, and pine nuts)

Step 4: Pizza Uncooked

Step 5: Pizza Cooked
